Tips & Tricks:
- If you want to make this gift easier: You don't have to make the pickaxe.
- When cutting out all pieces, make sure to follow the front design of each page. The back side has a bleed to make sure that there is no white.
- If you're having a hard time threading the rubber bands through the gems, you can use a pair of tweezers to help.
- Getting the right amount of tension for the rubber band can be a little tricky. When gluing together the gems, there should be some tension and you might need to double knot it so it won't slip through the hole. I recommend gluing everything together except the very last piece and testing the popping of the gem. This will allow you to tie the rubber band tighter if necessary before gluing the box closed. Once you've done it a few times, you'll get the hang of how tight to tie it.
- To make the chest clasp stand out more, I layered a few scrap pieces of cardstock underneath it.
- I used a stronger glue to glue the top of the clasp to the card and used double-sided tape for the bottom of the clasp, so it would open properly.
- I added in the supports to help with squishing the gems into the card. However, I found that I was able to do this without the supports, so they are completely optional!
- The card will be super packed, so you will need to push the top and bottom of the card together for it to close properly.
Happy gifting!
